Those … well, there’s no cuddly way to say it. Those bastards at the Westboro Baptist Church are at it again. On Monday, eight men were killed in an avalanche in Fernie, BC while enjoying a day of snowmobiling. Fred Phelps and his band of deluded psychos wasted no time and issued this press release that same day. I strongly encourage any able person in the area of Fernie to show up to this sick funeral protest and act as a buffer zone between the WBC and the funeral attenders. The families and friends of these men have lost enough without having to endure this ridiculous display of hatred.

Wow. I looked around http://www.godhatesfags.com for a bit. I almost thought it had to be a joke. I mean not even the KKK’s site is this overtly hateful. At first I thought Arno’s reaction must be a bit extreme, but wow. This is just wrong.
Oh dear. Every time they do this, I think that we should ignore them and that that is the best way to deal with them, rather than giving them the attention they want.
But. BUT. How do you ignore hatred so blind, so foul, so intrusive? I don’t know, obviously.

It’s a tricky matter but I was appalled to notice that absolutely no media has reported on this yet. The mourners at least have a right to know what to expect.
Perhaps it is for the better the media have ignored this so far. The less it is known the less idiots may think it would be a good idea to go to Canada.
I hope the mourners will be warned, perhaps just through the modern media such as this blog. I hope they will take appropriate counter measures, although I hope even more they will not be required.
But if some idiots do show up I wouldn’t mind if they use the solution I’d love to use on those WBC religiots. Involving a HK-47 or similar. With a silencer, cos the mourners should be able to do their mourning quietly, of course.

I suggest that the friends and families of the deceased do as we did in Winnipeg, when WBC tried to picket the funeral of Tim McLean.
Organize a big, big human shield of volunteers around the church(es). A totally peaceful, soft-spoken, non-confrontational shield consisting of, oh, 600-700 people.
Worked for us. I was there at the barricades, and am happy to report that WBC did not get through to cause trouble.

Fred Phelps and his perverted wackos are not allowed in Canada. They were barred from entering Canada after Tim McLean got killed in the bus. Fred Phelps is a closeted homosexual and is consumed with self-hate. He needs to just come out of the closet and deal with it.
He violently abused his own children and wife that four of them left. Some of the children took more abuse than others, especially Mark, Nate, and Katherine Phelps. Dorotha Phelps (now Bird) left because she felt her life was being controlled. Also, he may have caused Debbie Valgos to attempt suicide multiple times, only to die from a drug overdose. She was Fred Phelps Jr. fiance, but his father would not approve because she was Catholic.

We need to stop referring to this as a religious issue. This is a mental health issue. Forget the police: the Canadian mental health authorities need to be alerted. You can’t just let these folks walk about the streets of Canada waving placards during a memorial service.

I like Fred Phelps. Every time he opens his mouth and spews out hatred is one more time where honest, decent men and women of faith take a step away from all that he represents. His evil actions and hate mongering are a force for good in this world. Hatred of homosexuals is diminished as people do not wish to be labelled as intolerant “like Fred Phelps” and biblical literalists start seeing metaphors and symbolism where they failed before. His protests unite disparate groups in peaceful solidarity and foster closer ties within communities.

I can’t believe their taking their hatred to Canada now.As an agnostic/lesbian whose dealt with their hatred on numerous occasions, I can easily say that it’s very hard to just ignore them when their spewing venom at you from every direction even when your fully aware their doing it for the attention.So if it’s attention they want give to them by protesting against them.Like every other Fundamentalist Christian their well known for taking Biblical scriptures completly out of context so make signs that counter theirs and good luck.
